1. Teddy Two-Gloves in the Spin-Cycle

Dwight Freeney joined the Cardinals a month into the season and saved himself for most of the game, to give us all an example of what he used to could – and it was magnificent.  Forget the discussions about the play-call, or the decision to eschew the field goal, or the fact the Vikes actually had a chance to tie the game – a game they had little chance to compete in the first place, with injuries and limitations – be impressed on how they stood toe-to-toe with the now NFC West Champs.  The problem now for the Vikes is it seems the wheels are falling off and may not make the playoffs.

Peterson scores 100th touchdown in the NFL

Adrian Peterson’s first-quarter touchdown on Thursday was the 100th of his career and 95th of the rushing variety. Peterson, who has played in 117 regular-season games, is the 23rd player in NFL history to reach 100 career touchdowns. Of the first 22 players to do so, only eight reached that mark in 120 or fewer games. LaDainian Tomlinson was the quickest to reach 100 touchdowns, doing so in his 89th game in November 2006 (in a matchup with the Broncos in which he scored four touchdowns, three on rushes).

After rushing for 69 yards on Thursday, Peterson has 11,441 career rushing yards in the NFL. Only three other players in NFL history reached 100 total touchdowns and 10,000 rushing yards within their first 120 career games: Jim Brown (reached both of those marks in his 98th game), Emmitt Smith (106th game), and Tomlinson (106th game).

Brown with another big gain

John Brown had a 65-yard touchdown reception on a pass from Carson Palmer to give the Cardinals an early 10-7 lead over the Vikings on Thursday. If that seems familiar, that’s because Palmer connected with Brown on a 68-yard pass this past Sunday in their 27-3 victory over the Rams. Over the last five seasons (since 2011), only three other players had a reception of at least 65 yards in consecutive games: Pierre Garcon of the Colts (Weeks 4 and 5 of 2011 season), the Giants’Victor Cruz (Weeks 16 and 17 in 2011), and the Browns’ Josh Gordon (Weeks 13 and 14 in 2013). The last player to do so for the Cardinals was Hall-of-Famer Jackie Smith late in the 1967 season. Smith finished that season with 1205 receiving yards, ranking third in that category.

Brown has three receptions for 65 or more yards in his two seasons in the NFL. Since the start of the 2014 season, only two players have more receptions of this length: Odell Beckham and Martavis Bryant, each with four.

Palmer passes Warner for most TD passes for a Cardinals QB in one season

Carson Palmer tossed two touchdown passes in the Cardinals’ 23-20 victory over the Vikings, giving him 31 passing TD’s on the season and overtaking Kurt Warner (30 in 2008) for the most in a season in the Cardinals’ 95-year history. Palmer did not throw any interceptions in Thursday’s game, marking the fifth time this season that he had a game with at least two touchdown passes and no interceptions. OnlyTom Brady (seven), Aaron Rodgers (six), and Andy Dalton (six) have more games of this type in the current season. That ties the most such games for Palmer in one season in his career, having also had five in 2005. (h/t Elias Sports Bureau)

Jaguars claw their way back

The Jaguars defeated the Titans on Thursday after trailing in the fourth quarter, just as they won on Sunday after trailing the Ravens in the final period. It’s the first time since 2009 that the Jaguars have won back-to-back games after trailing in the fourth quarter in each one. Jacksonville’s total of three fourth-quarter comeback wins this season is equal to their total from the past four seasons combined (three from 2011 to 2014).  But the real story here is the uniforms.  Ugggh.  At least the internet had a lot of fun with ’em.crop_exact_Screen_Shot_2015-11-19_at_8.43.41_PM

Bills-Jets1. Finally a Team From New York #Wins in NYC:

Bills have the Jets’ number

The Bills defeated the Jets on Thursday, 22-17, after topping the Dolphins on Sunday. Entering tonight’s game, Rex Ryan had lost 18 of his previous 20 games immediately following a win. No other coach in NFL history has ever had such a low winning percentage over a span of 20 post-victory decisions.

The Bills have won four straight games against the Jets, in which they haven’t committed a turnover, while the Jets have committed 15! Only two other teams in NFL history have piled up 15 or more takeaways without a turnover over a four-game span against one team. The Colts were plus-16 against the Ravens from 2004 to 2008 and the Dolphins had a plus-15 differential against the Patriots from 1967 to 1969.

nullWilliams ties record for longest start-of-career TD streak\

Karlos Williams caught a touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor on Thursday, and he’s now scored a touchdown in all six games he’s played in the NFL. The only player in league history who scored a TD in each of his first six games was Robert Edwards for the Patriots in 1998.

Edwards was drafted 18th overall in 1998 by New England and rushed for 1115 yards as a rookie, but he injured his knee in a flag football game during the Pro Bowl festivities at the end of that season. He didn’t play another NFL game until 2002, with the Dolphins.

Browns vs. Bengals: Score and Twitter Reaction for 'Thursday Night Football'1. Eifert Tower:

Eifert is a touchdown machine

Tyler Eifert caught five passes, scoring on three of them, in the Bengals’ 31-10 home win over the Browns. Eifert is the first Cincinnati player to score as many receiving touchdowns on as few catches since Cris Collinsworth (also 5 receptions & 3 TDs) against the Jets in the 1986 season finale.

Eifert has caught six touchdown passes in four games at Paul Brown Stadium this season. Only one other Bengals player scored as many receiving touchdowns through the team’s first four home games. That was Carl Pickens, who scored seven in 1995.

The Red Rifle lights up Browns

Andy Dalton completed 78% of his passes for 234 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Cincinnati’s win over the Cleveland. Dalton’s passer rating of 139.8 is the second highest ever recorded by a Bengals starting quarterback in the team’s 84 games against their cross-state rivals. Ken Anderson put up a 141.7 mark at Cleveland Municipal Stadium in November 1975.

  • Johnny Manziel gave the Browns a brief spark, but the Browns ultimately were little more than supporting players in the battle of Ohio on Thursday night. These Cincinnati Bengals are making undefeated look easy.  Tight end Tyler Eifert caught three touchdown passes for the 8-0 Bengals in a 31-10 victory over their division rivals. This is the type of clinical, balanced, mature performance we’ve come to expect from the Bengals. Cleveland and Cincinnati traded long drives in the first half before the Bengals absolutely dominated the second half. The Bengals had 12 first downs and 17 points before the Browns picked up a first down in garbage time. Eifert has proven to be a difference maker in the red zone and could be the second-best tight end in football.  Andy Dalton completed 21 of 27 passes for 234 yards and……(continue reading)

1. Gronk Smash

Human Jock Jam Rob Gronkowski went on the NFL Network set after his 113-yard, one-TD performance Thursday night, and there wasn’t a prop he didn’t try and smash. He had to be told that the pumpkins were fake—you’d think Gronk, who CLEARLY spent most Halloweens in his youth smashing pumpkins with the Gronkowski brothers, could spot a real pumpkin—and had no regard for the set while demonstrating proper spiking technique.

What No One Tells You About #Winning – #NFL Week 7

1. Mean Old Frisco Blues

This game was as hard to watch as a bathroom break on an all fiber diet without any water.  Thank goodness for DraftKings or I would never watch Thursday Night Football and at least there was College Football.  It is so bad in SF that the best pass I saw from Kaep’N’1read was an out of bounds pass that drilled a camera guy – in-com-plete!  If it wasn’t for Russell Wilson’s lord testing his character by having him throw MORE interceptions this game could have been a lot worse……and with all that said the real story is that the Seahawk D actually held onto a lead in the 4th Qtr.  We should start a pool on when the 49ers get their next win because I say it ain’t ’til after Thanksgiving.

  • SHOCKING! SEAHAWKS HOLD LATE LEAD – Most teams would feel happy and confident by being up 17 points in the fourth quarter, but the 2015 Seattle Seahawks have not been “most teams.” The Seahawks — and especially their suddenly anxious fans — were on edge in San Francisco Thursday night as they held a 17-point lead against the 49ers in the second half.  But Seattle tried something new this week. It held on.  The Seahawks won, 20-3, but also had multiple……(continue reading)

  • The Seahawks stifled the 49ers offense for a third straight meeting, with Seattle winning in Santa Clara on Thursday, 20-3. That’s after the Seahawks swept the 49ers last season, 19-3 and 17-7. It’s the first time that the Seahawks have ever won three straight games against a division opponent while allowing seven or fewer points in each game, and no other division opponent has ever had a three-game stretch like that against the 49ers.
