Like Drunken Sailors in Hong Kong:

Sunday, at the DiRT Canon Safehouse was filled with football junkies and whorish people from Texas who were eager to gamble feverishly on every game being played anywhere, including whatever came up on replays. “I came here to get it on,” said a cranked-up lawyer from Houston. “This party starts now!” It was 2 o’clock on a Sunday afternoon, and these rubes were already acting like drunken sailors in Hong Kong.

I was not prepared for this kind of situation, but I found it hard to resist. Impossible, in fact, so I quickly caved in and went back to put on my traditional gambling suit — a blue silk blazer with Arabian pajama pants and a woolly pig-tail wig of unborn dog skin.

By the time I returned to the kitchen, the Seattle-Arizona game was under way, and green money was already changing hands. It was like walking into a cockfight. People were screaming at each other and waving fistfuls of sweaty American dollars. A rich smell of fireball-whiskey and peppermint schnapps hung in the air, and even women were smoking cigars. Yes sir, I said to myself, this is my kind of room.

And you too can have that kind of experience…Soon, as Mark Cuban believes, because Fantasy Sports, e-sports, virtual reality and gambling are inevitable, as well as soon-to-be-legalized – in an interview he did for Fortune magazine.

Follow The Trail…

There still seem to be more questions than answers when it comes to Charles Sly admitting he made everything up, to a journalistic question of ethics of a story that on the surface seems fabricated.  Unless you look deeper. Michael Powell of the New York Times attempts to do that in this article.  Ryan Zimmerman is considering a lawsuit, as is rumor of others that were named – but until that actually happens….The point is, we have seen enough smoke signals from our professional athletes over the years that turned into Forest-Fires.  Guess we’ll see.

What #NBA Teams Should Start Tanking

As Michael Pina explains from Sports On Earth: We’re over two months into the NBA season, and in some ways the league’s landscape is very different from what most of us envisioned back in October. But, big picture, all the relevant cement is nearly dry: Four (maaaybe five) teams can win the championship, three teams definitely won’t survive beyond the mandated 82 games and everyone else dances in a relatively hopeful purgatory.

There’s nothing wrong with a postseason appearance being enough to satiate ambition; for the most part, playoff berths are at worst a face-saving gesture and at best a symbolic step in the right direction for several middle-class organizations that badly need to display some linear progress. But foresight is crucial for every franchise, and the draft makes them all (outside Brooklyn) come to terms with who, where and what they are in 2016.

Self-evaluation can be hard, but it’s never not important. Here are seven teams that should/will/did throw in the towel.

#MLB #HOF2016 Ballot

I’m sure after tonight, there will be someone that gets into the HOF that will chap my a$$.  For now, let’s just hold our collective-breaths and hope the wet-heads in charge get it right. Until then let’s read some pontification from other guys and their ballot thoughts.

Embrace the Disgrace

If you just bought a Major League Baseball team and you had to start your team with the remaining free-agents – How many would you sign?  That’s the question Anthony McCarron wants to know as he breaks down the 12 best remaining free-agents in baseball.  Alex Gordon has just resigned with the Royals for somewhere near $72m – for me I’m taking a serious look at Cespedes in my outfield.  What say you?

Our #1 guy for tonight is Brandon Knight. He is going up against the 28th ranked defense against the PG position so far this season. Next we have Porzingis who is just on a tear right now and because he is still in the price range for his output, take him for sure. Take your pick between LeBron and Anthony Davis tonight and Sefolosha is our top #Sleeper as he is expected to start again tonight.

FanDuel Lineups2015NBA100DMnoLogo_728x90_en.jpg

NBA_FD_MonLooking at tonight’s matchups, we have a few guys that have some injuries that will lead to more playing time for some of the cheaper players. Tonight look for Muhammed to have a much larger role for the T-Wolves tonight as he is expected to play 22 minutes. This will lead to a 20+ point performance on FanDuel tonight and with his salary, this is how you can get Mr. Westbrook. Another player for the T-Wolves to look out for tonight is Kevin Martin. He is going to get the start at SG and coach Mitchell has already stated that he expects Martin to shoot it often in the starting lineup. Last guy to consider for FanDuel #Sleeper tonight is Ersan Ilyasova. This veteran has been playing some consistent ball of late and since being inserted into the starting lineup with Drummond, he is averaging 24.6 fantasy points per game. He stretches the floor for Drummand and that allows for Drummond to control the glass, play them together and look for a nice 80+ point performance amongst these these to two players.

DraftKings Lineups

NBA_DK_MonOn DraftKings we have our standard 3 lineups as we continue to flush out the most productive models for you to use moving forward. Our first lineup is all about consistency, so we have built a lineup based on what that player has done over their last 5 games. This team’s last 5 game average would get you a DraftKings score of 286 points, which is good enough to cash 78.6% of the time so far this season in the Sharpshooter contests. Our second lineup is all about max projection. When looking at the theoretical performance of each player and the maximum potential, we have built this lineup as this lineup has a top max projection score of 357.84. That would get you in the top 10 over 96% of the time in the Sharpshooter contest.  As you can see, there are several players that aren’t in the starting lineup so it’s all about the points per minute played and what their opponent gives up to that players position per minute.  Then we look at the most points each of these players has scored in a game this season to get our max projection. I like to call it the high risk, high reward because most of strategies and lineup creation models are not necessarily designed to have the most points, they are designed to win. In looking for the W each day, you sacrifice things like ownership percentage i.e. how many other entrants will have this player and then max projection because you are going to get a ton of guys that don’t normally produce high point totals that have a chance at that for this particular contests. Most would call this a #Sleeper but we consider the #Sleeper position to only be players under the salary of $5,200. Last we have the highest projected team total with a team projection of 281.47 and that would cash in the Sharpshooter contest 71.4% of the time. Tweet us your lineups @TheDiRTCanon and let us give you some additional guidance!

Teaching You How to #Win – Matchups to Exploit/Top Over-Under/Heavy Favorites #NFL Week 9

name of site - hunter thompson style

Heaviest Favorites

As of today, the heaviest favorites for the week are as follows:

  • New England -15 over Washington
  • Cincinnati -12.5 over the Browns
  • New Orleans -9.5 over the Titans

It should come as no surprise that the Patriots yet again lead the heavy favorites segment for this weeks’ Thursday post! Paul Brown Stadium_headshots_originalThey come in red hot, after blowing out what appeared to be a hot Dolphins team and now they get Washington and Kirk Cousins. Washington is coming in off of a bye and one of the best comebacks in their long history. I would take the points in this one as Brady is just red hot and I have zero faith in the Washington offense, even if DeSean Jackson actually plays in this contest. Moving on, we have the Bengals over the Browns by 12.5 points tonight. I am taking the Bengals, giving the points and actually taking the over as well in this one. This shouldn’t even be close but I do expect Barnidge to continue his TD streak and I do believe that you will have a Travis Benjamin siting for one long bomb. I have Bengals crushing however, 37 – 17 with the Bengals having 6 sacks and a touchdown on defense. Last we have the Saints as a 9.5 favorite at home over the lowly Titans. The Titans have just fired their coach and we still aren’t certain if Mariota is going to play in this one. If Mettenberger plays, one thing is for certain, he will throw at least one INT. The reason for that is because he has done it in every game in which he has started and the top defense for the week has played against him in 3 of 8 starts. Does this mean you should take the Saints D….maybe, come back on Sunday to get my final selections.

Top Players To Consider based on these matchups:

  • Tom Brady
  • Rob Gronkowski
  • Drew Brees
  • Jeremy Hill
  • Cincinnati Defense

Top Overall Game Over/Under

I might have to change up this section if the Patriots continue to have this locked down and week 9 is no different. This week the over/under for the Patriots and Washington is 52 points. I think this is even low considering that Washington should put up 20 points but I believe the Patriots will produce over 40 points in this game at home. Washington will have no answer for Gronk this weekend and Brady will figure out another WR to hit for big chunks of yardage all game long. Want a sleeper and do I mean sleeper, try out LaFell this weekend. He will get over 9 targets in this game so its just a matter of, can he catch it? I don’t know the answer to that but I wouldn’t be surprised to see LaFell go over 100 yards and a touchdown. Considering the fact that his salary on DraftKings is only $3,200 so think about it but this is very high risk.

Matchups to Exploit

Here we breakdown the pass defense, rush defense and overall defense to exploit for the week. If a team shows up in this area, it’s because our system shows them as giving up the most yardage totals for the upcoming week.

Let’s make this simple: the stats come directly from our Odds page, so come and take a peak here.

  • Passing Yards is Oakland  projected to give up 317.49
  • Rushing Yards is Chicago projected to give up 133.77
  • Overall Yards is Tampa Bay projected to give up 420.69

Last week as a late start on Sunday morning, I gave you Drew Brees and all he did was get you 47 fantasy points on FanDuel and over 50 on DraftKings. DiRTCanon A.I.This was based on this matchup information so you should be considering this data set each week as there are some golden gems in there. In terms of players to consider, based on week 9 projections, we have Antonio Brown against the Raiders. With Ben Roethlisberger back in the lineup, we know one thing and that is that Antonio Brown is going to get at least 10 targets. The Steelers are in need of a win and Oakland is pretty hot coming in this week. Look for a fairly high scoring contest. As for the Bears run defense, I’m not on a San Diego back all that much but if you wanted to take one it would be Woodhead. He has been the only consistent player, outside of Rivers this season and with the Chargers banged up all over the place, look for a 20+ point performance from Woodhead. Last we have the Tampa Bay Buccs projected to give up the most yards this weekend. Do I really think that Eli could outperform what he accomplished last week, NO! Does that mean I wouldn’t take him this week, that answer is also NO. I like the matchup and the Buccs have given up 397 passing yards or more in each of their last 3 games with one of those being against Kirk Cousins.  Check back on Sunday morning as I will reveal our expert picks for this weekends games!

Here is Thursday stack to consider for DraftKings if you are going to include tonight’s game:ThursdayNightStack

  • This lineup averages 154.6
  • This lineup is projected to score 133.1
  • The needed score to cash in the $5 Thur Kickoff has averaged 132.6
  • The confidence rating for this lineup is 54.7%
  • I predict this lineup will have over 150 points after tonight’s game

Teaching You How to #Win – Matchups to Exploit/Top Over-Under/Heavy Favorites #NFL Week 8

Heaviest Favorites

As of today, the heaviest favorites for the week are as follows:

  • St. Louis -9.5 over San Francisco
  • New England -9.5 over Miami
  • Carolina -7.5 over Indianapolis

This week is pretty interesting from a matchup perspective; but the top two games for the favorites this week are the Rams over the 49ers and the Pats over the Dolphins, both by 9.5 points. I don’t believe that either game will be that lopsided this week so I would take the points and both dogs in these games.

The Dolphins are playing some inspired football and tonight we will get to see if that continues against the leagues top team, the Patriots. The Rams are difficult to predict, although we were on their D last week and all they did was put up the most points for that position. Kaepernick is the second most sacked QB in the league and the Rams D can get after the QB so look for 7 sacks from this defense yet again. The last matchup is a trap game in my opinion. You have the Panthers playing well but have really only played the Seahawks and the Colts, who have been flat out terrible so far this season. I think Luck gets back to form in this game and they score a late TD to beat the Panthers 21 – 20. So I’m on all the ‘dogs. Now for some players to consider in each of these matchups in daily fantasy:

  • Greg Olsen
  • Tom Brady
  • St. Louis Defense

Top Overall Game Over/Under

The game with the most expected points this weekend is the San Diego Chargers on the road against the Baltimore Ravens. Look it makes sense when you consider that the Ravens pass defense has given up the most yards and points to opposing QB’s and Rivers has had over 850 yards in his last 2 games combined. You take that with Flacco putting up strong numbers and the Chargers defense cannot stop the opposing RB, giving up at least 1 touchdown to each of their last 5 opposing RB’s. So this is a game to consider a stack and take Rivers, Forsett, Woodhead, Smith Sr. and then either Gates or Green, depending on who starts – this half of a lineup should get you 130+ fantasy points this week!

  • Passing Yards is the New York Giants at 294.46 yards
  • Rushing Yards is Tennessee at 137.46 yards
  • Overall is St. Louis at 418.77

We gave you both Gurley and Diggs last week, along with the Rams D and Doug Martin. If you played those guys – then you had 111.6 just from this group.  If you played Brady and Gronk, then you were certain to cash. DiRTCanon A.I.This week, you should consider Drew Brees, but I suggest you stick to Rivers. The Chargers cannot stop anyone on defense so they are constantly behind and Rivers will chuck it all game. On the rushing side of the house, DC*3PO is really on Bell this weekend or you can stick with the hot hand of DeVonta Freeman. Our Odds section suggests that you look at Alfred Blue this weekend and with Foster out, he is very cheap but I’m not on that at all. I like Chris Johnson against the Browns, who have given up a 100 yard rusher in every game this season, even against the Broncos Hillman lit them up. Overall, I like the stack in the Baltimore and San Diego game.  Check back on Sunday morning as I will reveal our expert picks for this weekends games!

Teaching How to #Win – #NFL Week 7 Top Projections/Toughest Matchups

Top Projections &Toughest Matchups

Based on feedback from you, we are changing this section up just a bit by expanding to all positions. In order to do so we wanted to provide you with some definition behind the data we are providing. DraftKings_TopFPPG

  • DraftKings Tops FPPG – Top 5 players for each position based on fantasy points per game on DraftKings.
  • FanDuel Tops FPPG – Top 5 players for each position based on fantasy points per game on FanDuel.
  • DraftKings Tops Proj  – Top 5 players for each position based on TheDiRTCanon current week projection for DraftKings.
  • FanDuel Tops Proj – Top 5 players for each position based on TheDiRTCanon current week projection for FanDuel.
  • DraftKings Toughest Matchups – Top 5 players with the toughest matchup, based on TheDiRTCanon opponent value with a minimum projection for the needed score to #Win for DraftKings.
  • FanDuel Toughest Matchups – Top 5 players with the toughest matchup, based on TheDiRTCanon opponent value with a minimum projection for the needed score to #Win for FanDuel.

At The DiRT Canon, our matchups not only consider what the player’s opponent has given up to a position, we go all the way down to the depth chart position for that player and what that defense has given up to that position.  We also consider, this information for the current season and ever in the past along with incorporating home or away. I have then added my own personal flavor where I don’t bother providing you with players that aren’t going to play or are basically irrelevant so I have established a custom figure of projection for each position that we also filter by. What does this mean? It means that we aren’t going to tell you some third string guys has the lowest opponent value for the week but instead we are looking to display players that are expected to at least get you the minimum amount of points needed from that position in order to #Win.  Just click NFL-CurrentSeasonTop5 for the full report. Experts Take

Based on this week’s report, what I take from this is that we know Brady has been dominant but the Jets defense might be the first to keep him under 20 points in fantasy this season. I like Palmer for both matchup and for projection. I also think this might be the week that Hopkins doesn’t go off and instead you might want to consider ODB and Eli combo. The Rams D looks like a strong play but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider taking Josh McCown. He is ranked in the top 5 projection from us this week and I think he will still put up big yards and a couple touchdowns, the Rams D is a strong consideration because of their special teams and turnover potential. That is a key distinction as you look to evaluate your lineup selections this week, Browns players are still going to be of value this week because the Rams defense does give up yards. My main guy this week is Gurley, look for a 2 TD performance this week! If you want us to review your lineups and get the experts opinion, just click here and submit your request.

Public Picks

This is a new segment for us to cover this year. Currently FanDuel and Draftkings won’t tell you who the public is on for this week’s contests. There is a reason for that from their perspective but from ours, we love it. While we cannot tell you specifically which site has which figures as that would violate our partnership agreement with each company, we can tell you based on the NFL.com, Perfect Lineup challenge, who the public is on. Yet another reason why you only need to come to our site for all of your Daily Fantasy information.Public_Picks_wk6

  • QB – Tom Brady 43.0%
  • RB – Devonta Freeman 64.2%
  • WR – DeAndre Hopkins 40.3%
  • TE – Rob Gronkowski 62.4%
  • K – Stephen Gostkowski 37.7%
  • DEF – Denver 45.5%

Can you take all of these and still fill out a lineup, probably not but come check out our lineup analyzer and build your winning lineup with our high quality analysis here.

Hottest Players

Current top 5 performers for both FanDuel and Draftkings!

fanduel

  1. Tom Brady 26.0 – $9,000
  2. Antonio Gates 25.7$5,500
  3. Devonta Freeman 24.9 – $8,000
  4. Andy Dalton 23.6$7,600
  5. Le’Veon Bell 22.6 – $9,000

draftkings

  1. Antonio Gates 30.2 – $4,600
  2. Devonta Freeman 28.5 – $6,300
  3. Tom Brady 27.7$8,100
  4. Le’Veon Bell 27.6 $8,500
  5. Julio Jones 27.3 – $9,200

Based on this information, if you were to come over here, to our lineup analyze you can see what recommendations you have by entering most, if not all of these players and see how you do.  They have certainly been the top performers thus far.  Throughout the week, I have continued to provide enhanced information about who to take this week.  Obviously, Freeman has already played and he sure did continue his hot streak! For this week, I would take Tom Brady from this list or Andy Dalton at QB. For my running back, I like Andrews this week, very cheap and should be a 20+ fantasy player this weekend. At wide out, I like DeAndre Hopkins.  I think he has a shot at 40 points on Sunday. Check back on Sunday morning before the games and I will give you my final selection along with lineup recommendations for the week.

Tournament Suggestions

I wanted to add a section this weekend to our list and that is tournament suggestions.  I have received your feedback and one of the things that all of you keep asking is, “What tournaments should I play in?” The short answer is that as you continue to play and save your lineups with us, we are building your player profile so we can make automated suggestions in the future for you. So in the interim time frame, you can come here, to our strategy section and I will highlight some contests each week for you to take a look at:

  1. Always put one entry into the main contest for $25, so you have a shot at the Million
  2. Play 2 double up contests for every main contest you enter at the same price.  So if you play the $5 challenge, then play two $5 double up contests, this will ensure that you are making some money and the main contest entry is gravy on top.
  3. Play one head to head challenge, this is your best odds of winning.
  4. Always enter the prime time challenge and the Mon-Thu challenge because you are only picking from 4 teams, options are limited but low risk and high reward for these contests.

Good Luck this weekend, come back tomorrow as we will provide our expert picks at 9:30 a.m. MST on Sunday mornings from now on!

Week 6 Absolutes

Absolute Must Have

As we look to move into the second quarter of the NFL season, we have some certainties, one of which is Tom Brady!  Aug 16, 2013; Foxborough, MA, USA; New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (12) throws a pass against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the first quarter at Gillette Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Stew Milne-USA TODAY SportsHe has started off the season as the highest producing player on FanDuel and #3 on Draftkings. This week he is our #1 overall Absolute #MustHave! This is the game we have been waiting for since the Colts called shenanegans on the Pats last post season. Not only have the Patriots owned them of late, they have blown them off the planet. This game doesn’t seem to have any more to it than that but I will say that by enlarge the Patriots have beat the Colts down by running the ball with an extra lineman into block. Look for Brady to exceed his projection of 26.12 on Draftkings this week as they have different weapons this year and I suspect that Lewis, Gronk and Edelman will all get into the mix, not just Blount! I believe that Gronk get’s back on the TD train, Patriots roll the Colts by 29, just like they have averaged since Andrew Luck came into the league.

FanDuel Projection – 22.89  Draftkings Projection – 26

***Reminder Must Have’s are salaries that are $7,800 and higher

Absolute Notable

For FanDuel our top Notable for week 6 is Ryan Fitzpatrick, coming in with a projection of 17.77 and a positive projection to spend ratio of 2.24.  He is coming off a bye week last week and the Washington secondary is not very good.  Aug 24, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton (14) throws in the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY SportsLook for Brandon Marshall to also have another solid performance again this week. On Draftkings, we have Andy Dalton. What can I say about his play this season, simply amazing.  I have started him on one lineup every week since week 2 and he has outperformed our projection each time this season. The Bills defense is supposed to be stout but did you know that they have given up at least 22 fantasy points to every QB this season except Mariota last week.  He was close but look who Tennessee has, certainly no AJ Green over there, look for Dalton to continue his top 5 play again this week and put up 25 fantasy points.  On Draftkings as his salary is far lower than his production so far this season so give him a shot, you won’t be disappointed. His Draftkings Projection is 20.85.

***Reminder Notables are salaries between $5,200 and $7,800

Absolute Sleeper

fanduelNow for the category that most, if not all of you are really looking for.  Each week we have nailed our #Sleeper for the week and that is why we have been so consistent in winning on both FanDuel and Draftkings!  Drum roll please………….Ryan Fitzpatrick is our Absolute Sleeper on Draftkings this week. Ryan Fitzpatrick_headshots_250He comes in with a Draftkings Projection of 16.58 and a salary of only $5,000. I know that you might be looking for a different position here but our Absolutes are based off of a combination of projection and matchup value for the week.  While Washington has a descent statistical value this season, the value for Fitzpatrick is there.  If you took McCown last week, who was in a similar situation, you blew it up last week and Fitzpatrick is that guys this week, trust me.  Our FanDuel Absolute Sleeper is C.Santos for the Chiefs.  Yeah, I know a Kicker, come on MAN! The truth is, the Cheifs are going to struggle to put the ball in the end zone with Charles gone for the season, look for big points out of this young man.  My personally selection for this week’s #Sleeper is Antonio Andrews of the Tennessee Titans.  Andrews is averaging 13.8 fantasy points per game on Draftkings this season and Miami comes in with the highest projected rush yards against for the week.  He is only $3,400 so for that price, you can afford some higher priced folks this week.

***Reminder that Sleepers are salaries under $5,200

  2. Le’Veon Bell 28.6 – $8,500
  3. Tom Brady 28.5 – $7,800
  4. Larry Fitzgerald 27.1 – $6,800
  5. Devonta Freeman 26.7 – $6,300

Based on this information, if you were to come over here, to our lineup analyze you can see what recommendations you have by entering most, if not all of these players and see how you do.  They have certainly been the top performers thus far.  Throughout the week, I have continued to provide analysis from a multitude of areas that will outline that you really should have Brady on at least one of your daily fantasy lineups this weekend.  I believe Julio Jones has a bounce back game and goes over the 150 yard marker with 1 TD.  Freeman is my main concern from this list as the Washington defense is ranked #1 against the run coming into this contest.  That is partially due to the fact that they haven’t played any running teams yet this season and NO, I don’t count Philly as a running team!  That said, you have to ride the hot hand and right now Freeman is the hottest hand in the league.  Each of the rest of these players should be at or above our projection this week, with great matchups look for another huge fantasy scoring week, this weekend.

Absolute Must Have

We know you have been waiting since the end of the NBA season for you Absolute player selections so here we go.  Reminder that this selection is for players with a salary above $7,000.  In this week we have several nice matchups but our absolute Must Have for Draftkings is Drew Brees.

With Tampa Bay continuing struggle, in fact giving up 4 TD’s in the first half to Mariota, this should be an easy pick for you.  We have Brees throwing 3 touchdowns and over 350 yards. On FanDuel we have Matt Stafford coming in on our top spot.  This is based on matchup and projection for the week but he too should have a pretty good day as he looks to get back on track with Megatron.  Look for Stafford to go over 300 yards and at least 1 touchdown to Johnson.  Check out your Draftkings Absolute’s here and your FanDuel Absolute’s here.

Absolute Notable

Onto our mid-level salaried guys, we have our Notables section.  This is for players with a salary between $5,300 and $6,900.  Our Draftkings Absolute Notable for week 2 is Matt StaffordMatthew Stafford_headshots_195x270 He is actually our second highest projected player this week and should put up big numbers against the Vikings.  The Absolute Notable for FanDuel is Nick Foles.  He had a great first outing against the Seahawks last week and now has Washington in town.  Look for Foles to put up a descent game with 279 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  He should get you around 14 fantasy points this week.

Absolute Sleeper

Our Absolute Sleeper section looks for guys that have a salary of $5,100 and under.  Coming in as our Absolute Sleeper for week 2 on Draftkings is the Kendall Wright.  He has a monster game against the lowly Bucs in week 1 and now has the Browns to deal with.  That said, Mariota looked great and the Browns have no offense.  This means tons of extra possessions and he is their #1 guys for now. For FanDuel we have Washington’s defense as our Absolute Sleeper.

Something incredible happened in the St. Louis/Seattle game last week, Seattle’s defense still put up a 19 spot, even though they gave up all those points.  That’s because most of that production was on special teams with Washington coming in as an underdog, this could be a great value pick for your team this week with descent production.

The main #Sleeper that I am on this week is Darren Sproles.  His salary didn’t go up after the first week and if you watched on Monday night, you quickly realized that Chip Kelly is going to use Sproles often.

Heaviest Favorites

As of today, we are showing the top 4 games in terms of heaviest favorites to be New Orleans -11 over Tampa Bay, Indianapolis -7.5 over the Jets, Baltimore -7 over Oakland and Miami -7 over the Jags.  It would be tough for me to take the Saints and give up those points as that is a ton of spread for an NFL game with a divisional opponent.  As for the Jets, I was impressed with their second half last week and the Colts flat out struggled against that Bills D.  I see the Colts winning this game 23 – 17 so I’m on the Jets with the points.  Moving onto the Ravens and Raiders.  Cross country matchups are always ones to keep an eye on.  I’m on Oakland with the points this week as I do believe the Ravens will win the game but it should be a close game with Carr expected to play, look for a low scoring battle, Ravens 20 Oakland 17.  The last matchup is the one I like the most.  In every game that Bortles has been the dog by at least 7 the other team has covered.  Look for that trend to continue this week with Miami’s offense beginning to roll, Miami 31 Jacksonville 16.

Top Overall Game Over/Under

The top Over/Under game of the week is Dallas at Philadelphia.  The Eagles lead this category for the second consecutive week, with a total of 55 expected combined points.

This just goes to show you how much the public is on the Eagles offense.  I watched the entire game on Monday night and while the Eagles ended up with 24 points, they only put up 3 in the first half.  The got a break with an interception return down inside the 10 yard line of the Falcons, otherwise, I highly doubt they would have hit the 20 point mark.  Let’s give them 21 this week and that would mean that the Dezless Cowboys would need to put up 35 points to hit that over.  I don’t think they have a chance at that this time around.  Keep in mind that Dallas held the Eagles to 3 points in Philadelphia two years ago and that was with the worst defense in the league that year. Sproles will have a solid performance and I look for Terrance Williams to have a solid performance for the Cowboys.  I have Cowboys 24 Eagles 21 in this one and Philadelphia fans are in an uproar for Kelly’s head after this week.

Toughest QB Matchup

In this segment, I am going to highlight for you the top three, toughest matchups for QB’s for the upcoming week.  Leading this category for week 2 is Cam Newton.  He comes in playing against the Russell Wilson_headshots_195x270Texans, who after giving up 3 first half touchdowns to the Alex Smith of all people, they settled in and shutout the Chiefs in the second half.  Keep this in mind as well, the Jags shut down the Panthers in that game and the only reason the Panthers won is because of their defense.  Cam has no weapons and after paying Olsen, he certainly didn’t show up for much of anything in week 1.  Our second candidate this week is Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Yes, I know they are playing the Colts on Monday night but face it, the Colts held Taylor to 195 passing yards last week and I believe that the Bills have far more talent in their receiving core and backfield than the Jets.  Look for the Colts to bounce back this week, Fitzpatrick will struggle and the only player that should be thought of on the Jets this week is Ivory.  The last tough matchup is Aaron Rodgers.  Yes, I said it, Aaron Rogers.  He has had his worst games as a professional against Seattle.  Most of those games have been played up in Seattle where this one is going to be at home but Seattle comes in with a loss to a divisional opponent and it’s Sunday Night Football.  Look for Rodgers to struggle this week and only put up 17 points.

Matchups to Exploit

In this segment, I am going to breakdown the pass defense, rush defense and overall defense to exploit for the week.  If a team shows up in this area, it is because our system shows them as giving up the most yardage totals for the upcoming week.

The pass defense to take advantage of this week is going to be the New York Giants.  They gave up 357 yards last week to Romo and in comes Julio Jones.  Look for Matt Ryan to go over 300 yards this week by the 3rd quarter.  Don’t be alarmed about Julio Jones, he played the entire game and on a short week, the Falcons are resting their superstar for Sunday.

The rush defense to exploit this week is going to be…..Tampa Bay.  They didn’t give up a huge game last week but that is because Mariota put on a show in the first half and it was over at that point.  The Saints have Drew Brees, so they are going to throw the ball but look for Ingram to get over 100 yards this week and at least 1 touchdown.

The overall team that is going to give up the most fantasy points this week is going to be….Green Bay Packers.  Yes, I know you think that the Pack is ready to make a charge for the Super Bowl but the simple fact is look what Forte did to them last week.  Now comes Lynch and Seattle is coming in off of a loss last week.  This is going to be higher scoring game than people think and look for Seattle to make a statement this week.

QB Selections

Our top 3 QB’s for this week in order of projected score is Drew Brees #1, Matt Stafford #2 & Russell Wilson #3. I know you are thinking, where is Luck or Rodgers?  They haven’t made it for week or week 2 as far as we are concerned.  That’s because we are fantasy football guys and we specialize in daily fantasy.  I wouldn’t take the QB against the Bills or Jets, almost any week this season and that is what Luck is having to deal with.

As for Rodgers, we didn’t have him last week because we had other guys that showed up a bit higher and this week he is up against a hungry Seattle defense that got beat down last week by the Rams.  He struggles against the Seahawks and we have him right at #8 for this week.  The QB that I’m very inclined to take this week is Matt Ryan. He had a pretty solid outing against the Eagles and the Giants D, without their stud defensive end, looks horrific. If Romo can put up a 27 without Dez Bryant, I’m sure that Matt Ryan will hit them for at least 25 points with an injury free Julio Jones!

Yet another reason why you only need to come to our site for all of your Daily Fantasy information.

QB – Drew Brees 41.7%

RB – Matt Forte 32.8%

WR – Julio Jones 64.4%

TE – Rob Gronkowski 58.0%

Can you take all of these and still fill out a lineup, probably not but come check out our lineup analyzer and build your winning lineup with our high quality analysis here.

Hottest Players

Week 1 is in the books and below are the top 5 performers for both FanDuel and Draftkings!

fanduel  Fan Duel

  1. Carlos Hyde – 31.2
  2. Julio Jones – 30.6
  3. Rob Gronkowski – 29.9
  4. DeAndre Hopkins – 28.3
  5. Tom Brady – 27.6

draftkings

  1. Carlos Hyde – 35.2
  2. Keenan Allen – 34.6
  3. Tyler Eifert – 34.4
  4. DeAndre Hopkins – 32.8
  5. Antonio Brown – 31.3

Players to Exploit

With week 1 complete, I completely nailed Julio Jones last week as he was almost every winning lineup over the weekend.  That said, let’s get back to week 2, who am I on this week you ask?  For our top 2 running backs this week, the DiRT Canon analyzer shows Matt Forte and Marshawn Lynch. I, however, am on Carlos Hyde.  He not only lead both sites last week, it was glaringly obvious that the 49ers are going to run and run often.  Reggie Bush is washed up, so this leaves Hyde to get somewhere between 25 and 30 carries. Carlos Hyde_headshots_195x270 The Steel Curtain hasn’t been lifted for production on Sunday’s in quite some time now, look for Hyde to put up another 115 yards and 1 touchdown this week.  Moving onto the wide receiver group.  Our system has Julio Jones coming in at #1 with Julian Edelman at #2.  That might seem surprising, given the fact that the Bills defense is so good but look for the Bills to attempt to shut down Gronkowski and not let him beat them.  This leaves Julian for a ton of catches not to mention he had 11 receptions last week.  All in all, I’m taking Julio Jones until he reaches $10,000.  I don’t see a defensive player that can stop him and the Falcons are going to get him the ball around 10 times per game if not more.  Had he not had 4 receptions called back on penalties, he would hit my bold prediction of 200 yards, 12 catches and 2 touchdowns.  Onto our last position for this segment and that is tight ends.  Our system has Jimmy Graham barely ahead of Gronkowski and had the Gronker not been playing in Buffalo this week, he is like Julio, take him every week as he will probably score at least one touchdown.  Now for the winning lineup tight end for this week, my bold prediction is Jordan Reed.  He had a solid performance last week and the Rams aren’t going to stop him.  With DeSean Jackson out for a few weeks, look for Reed to own the middle of the field and he should get at least one touchdown.  For the $3,600 on Draftkings, he is a solid pick with plenty of upside that will allow you to take Forte and Julio this week.

Weather

The only game that has any potential weather would be in Green Bay on Sunday night.  The forecast is for 58 degrees so nothing to really be concerned with at this point in the season.
