DiRTy Plays – Thursday 5 Point Play

In recapping last night’s performance, it was all about them Bulls. Both Gasol and Butler did not disappoint last night as both went for over their projection of 46 and 49 respectfully. Additionally, you had Ryan Anderson tie a career high in points as we predicted and secured a 50+ fantasy performance along with Cole and Rondo, our top lineup scored 353 on FanDuel last night and cashed in all contests. Now, I will walk you through 5 key points and end with The DiRT Canon top lineup for both FanDuel and DraftKings, along with the lineup analysis for you to consider tonight!

Point 1 – Value Plays:

  • The top overall value play for tonight is Chris Bosh. He comes in with a very close projection to his needed points for tonight’s salary to be of value. Rarely do you get a positive value number for that player’s salary when they are projected above 35. Take Bosh tonight.
  • The 2nd overall value play is Tyson Chandler. While splitting time with Len, he is still getting over 25 minutes and he will get the boards tonight. Look for a 30+ fantasy point performance from Chandler again tonight.
  • The 3rd overall value play for tonight is Dion Waiters. He has been averaging over 30 minutes and the OKC vs. HOU matchup is the highest projected game per Vegas tonight.

Point 2 – Positional Breakdown:

Below is the average fantasy points per position for both FanDuel and DraftKings based on the minimum winning score for each site. This should give you an order to your lineup selection process.

FanDuel_

  • Point Guard – 38.2/player (76.4 total points)
  • Shooting Guard – 36.2/player (72.4 total points)
  • Small Forward – 29.3/player (58.6 total points)
  • Power Forward – 36.9/player (73.8 total points)
  • Center – 46.2/player (46.2 total points)

The average winning score was not affected by last night as such keep your order rolling with PG, PF, C, SG, SF.

draftkings

  • Point Guard – 48.6/player (2.9 PG’s per winning lineup)
  • Shooting Guard – 34.8/player (2.01 SG’s per winning lineup)
  • Small Forward – 26.4/player (1.4 SF’s per winning lineup)
  • Power Forward – 44.4/player (1.01 PF’s per winning lineup)
  • Center – 33.8/player (1.31 C’s per winning lineup)

The key for tonight is getting value at Center and then taking the high end guards. Westbrook should be your chalk play for tonight.

Point 3 – Big Play Potential:

BigPlayPotentialWe have officially released the full version of the Big Play Potential and this should be a highly used set of information specifically for DraftKings as this will be a big indication for having players hit those all important bonuses.

  • The top Triple-Double guy for tonight is Westbrook with just over a 10% chance of hitting this mark.
  • The top Double-Double is Drummond is an 83% chance of hitting this mark tonight.
  • The top 3 point player for tonight is James Harden at 2.7 three’s tonight.

Be sure to check out the detail of this report as you will get to see how players are trending in their last 5 and last 10 games relative to these categories.

Point 4 – Last 5 Game Tops:

Over each player’s last 5 games for players that are eligible tonight for contests here is your breakdown for players based on their last 5 games played in order:

Last5

Point 5 – Absolutes:

  • The top overall #AbsoluteMustHave is Russell Westbrook, just take him and you will get at least 50 fantasy points. This is a lock!
  • The top overall #AbsoluteNotable is Kentavius Caldwell-Pope as he comes in with a projection of 30.46 and is leading the team in minutes played per game at just under 40 minutes per game.
  • The top overall #AbsoluteSleeper is Kelly Olynk. His projection of 25.15 is the highest for him in quite some time and he presents that value you need for a big guy.

DraftKings Lineup Consideration
DK_LineupAnalyzerFor DraftKings tonight we are going to roll with Harden and Lavine. We will have another lineup with Westbrook but the top overall projected lineup for tonight based on our custom algorithms had Harden and Durant as the chalk plays. Then you would have Lavine at PG along with Devin Booker and Langston Galloway for additional guards. Taking Hawes at Center for value along with Marvin Williams and Derrick Williams assuming that Porzingis and/or Anthony will sit out again tonight which as of 6:30 EST they are both expected to play so you might consider a different play here such as Olynk at center and then rolling with Pope at guard.

FanDuel Lineup Consideration

FD_LineupAnalyzerFor FanDuel, we have some key players such as Kemba, Wiggins & Durant as our top players. At Center we are going with Gobert, who has quietly been tearing it up tonight. Tristan Thompson should have a good game again tonight as he is back in the starting lineup along with Chandler Parsons who is also a strong play for tonight.

Absolute Player Breakdown

AbsolutesThe DiRT Canon Absolute Player Breakdown is a compilation of information that utilized a custom segmentation of salary for both FanDuel and DraftKings. The three categories that are used for analysis purposes are #AbsoluteMustHave, #AbsoluteNotable & #AbsoluteSleeper. These categories use the following salary ranges:

  • $7,000 & Above = MustHave
  • $5,200 – $6,900 = Notable
  • Under $5,200 = Sleeper

Players that are considered to be MustHave’s that top this list are the equivalent of Chalk plays for today’s contests. We breakdown these items for each position knowing that you won’t be able to take all of these players but this will give you the best chance to ensure you have selected from the projected top players for today. As we move into the Notable category, now this is where you separate from cashing and from losing. The need for at least 3 players in this category means that you have to ensure you take the guys that typically average between 25 fantasy points per game and 33 fantasy points per game, that have the highest chance of going for 40 points or more tonight. The sleeper category is where you now look to separate from the bottom of the cash pile to the top of the cash pile. For daily NBA contests, this usually means finding the guy(s) who have a higher point per minute than the average and are expected to play more minutes, either because of injury to other players or their average minutes played per game is trending up.

Projection-2-Spend Breakdown

Proj2SpendThe next set of information that should be reviewed are the value plays for today’s games. Most fantasy sports information sites have their own value system, which takes their projection and divides that by the assigned salary. Here at The DiRT Canon, we go above and beyond standard metrics that really don’t give you much information and instead we look to provide a more in-depth analysis of value. In processing the results of thousands of contests at all levels of entry fees, The DiRT Canon, has been able to identify the minimum winning score on average, weighting several factors such as number of games played, overall rank of teams playing, Vegas odds, projected over-under scores and much more in order to forecast the needed score to win tonight. This will be further provided in future releases to our customers and to sign up just click here and enter Promo code WIN.

Now that we have the projected score needed to win, we can now look at the assigned salary in order to determine the Needed Points, that each player will need to achieve in order to be worth the assigned salary for each daily fantasy site. Then we take our Overall DiRT Canon projection and subtract that value from the Needed Points in order to determine if that player has value or not. When you are able to identify players that have high average fantasy points per game and are of value for today’s games, these are the strongest plays you can find. When you have lower salaried players with high variances in this area, these are also players that should be considered in building your lineup.

This information is broken down by position so you are able to quickly identify the players that have the highest projection. The one factor that The DiRT Canon brings to the table that no one else considers is the fact that we have a projection that is based on the Last 5 games, Last 10 games, Full Season and the we have a custom Overall Projection. At a glance this will give you a trending perspective for each player that visually you are able to determine who you should select.

Thoughts on #SuperBowl50 in #Murica

name of site - hunter thompson style

usa-nfl-map-collage-6-mb-art-factory

If you consider all the things about football, it’s the simple mistakes that might be the difference between winning or losing, particularly a Big game — read Playoffs, read esp. Super Bowl. We are talking about small failures, here — basic mechanical failures, mental errors and blind spots of memory. Foolish laziness that nobody noticed in the first three games of the year will loom gigantic in the playoffs. A simple dropped pass in the fourth quarter will haunt a football player for the rest of his life and cause him to scream in his sleep. Those things will never be forgotten.

Indeed. There are many cruel Rooms in the mansion, and many deep holes in the Road. Keep alert or get stabbed. Of all the shocks and pains that every football season brings, the worst of all is the ending of it. And that is what we face now — two Sunday’s from now, in fact, before the bell tolls. There will be no appeal, no extension, no replay. That will be the end of the football season, no matter who complains.

A few geeks will, of course. A few swine always do. No barrel is utterly clean. That would be atmospherically impossible, right? And rest assured that nothing on this Earth is 100 percent clean. Nothing…. Maybe you are one of those people who honestly believes that Cats are clean? I hope not, because you are saddling up for a serious fall. Cats are filthy, and they don’t mind passing it around. The smell of a large cat (as in Lion or Panther) at room temperature in a sea-level house is so powerful and so disorienting as to derail the human brain. The odor of a mountain lion in the wild is far more terrifying than the sight of the beast, even on a frozen night in the snow. It will literally “take your breath away” at 10 or even 20 yards. Your whole nervous system will seize up and be paralyzed, even your lungs. So stay away from all animals that are bigger than you are, especially at night when they are nervous. A brown bear will eat your whole body in 24 hours. Beware.

What? Why are we worrying about bears and cats at this time of year, days before the Super Bowl? I’ll tell you why: Because every time I think about Denver in the Superbowl and Football and Patriotism all at once, I think of Nixon and dangerous wild animals and his lust for power. Nixon was a football fan — and so am I, as it happens, and I can tell you from years of keen observation that us football fans have a way of getting together, no matter where we are.

There is nothing supernatural about it, but I have witnessed it happen over and over. Football fans share a universal language that cuts across many cultures and many personality types. A serious football fan is never alone. We are legion, and Football is often the only thing we have in common. We recognize each other instantly, even if we have to speak in sign language, or raised eyebrows. No doubt it has something to do with the gambling instinct, which is also universal.

The next time you find yourself in need of conversation in some backwoods foreign airport, as I have from time to time, take this tip and look around for the nearest public TV set that is tuned to a football game. That will be your oasis, no matter how long your layover may. You will get your questions answered.

Gaming is another universal language, along with simple mathematics, cold beer, and wild sex. Any traveler who is conversant in these tongues and football too will find friends in any town. Take my word for it.

It goes without saying, of course, that extreme behavior in all these lines is not recommended. Heavy drinking and berserk gambling among strangers will usually lead to trouble on the road, and you want to keep in mind that airport bars are no longer as tolerant as they used to be. Last year’s fun is today’s crime. Even tying your shoes in an airport could get you locked up.

It will not be long before all major airlines will require all passengers to disrobe and change into standard Hospital gowns before they board a plane. This is already in the planning stage, according to a lawyer from Albuquerque who also assures me that sleeping gas will be introduced later this year on flights of 40 minutes or longer. “The gas has already been market tested,” he said. “Passengers are heavily in favor of it.”

“What passengers?” I asked him. “Not football fans on their way to Santa Clara, I bet, or people who have to write speeches on airplanes.”

“There will be no exceptions,” he assured me. “Only uniformed soldiers and police officials licensed to carry concealed weapons.”

“That’s good,” I said. “I have a machine gun license.”

“Very funny,” he said. “Don’t push your luck these days. That’s why we have these new secret prisons.”

I hung up and crossed his name off my guest list for the Super Bowl. Nazis are not welcome at this party. They can’t be trusted.

So how about the Big Game, sport? Who is going to win?

Who indeed?! But if I were a betting man I would go with…Find out later,  I might even go double on it. Why not? It’s the last game of the year. I won’t lose….

DiRTy Plays – Thursday 5 Point Play

In recapping last night’s performance, Wednesday was a lot of action with not a lot of big results. Last night marked the first time that we didn’t have at least 4 players go over 50 fantasy points in a single night during the month of January. Instead we had a bunch of guys in that middle 30’s to mid 40’s range with players like Farried & Hayward putting up solid numbers. The big guys in the Philly vs. Pistons game were the guys to have as Noel and Drummond both had monster games. Most winning lineups had Archie Goodwin even though he only produced 20 fantasy points where as Klay Thompson reminded us of his ability to score throwing down 45 actual points and going over 50 fantasy points for the only the second time this season. Now, I will walk you through 5 key points and end with The DiRT Canon top lineup for both FanDuel and DraftKings, along with the lineup analysis for you to consider tonight!

Point 1 – Value Plays:

  • The top overall value play for tonight is Jrue Holiday and with him coming off one of his best performances of the season, the injury bug continues to cause issues for the Pelicans and Holiday should remain a top fantasy performer again tonight with Evans still expected to play but he is hurt.
  • The second overall value play for tonight is Gary Harris. He has put up 4 straight solid 25+ fantasy performances and he is coming off a back to back where the Nuggets should be in a shoot out with the Wiz tonight. Look for Harris to get around 30 fantasy points with a small salary so huge value here.
  • The third overall value play for tonight is Willie Cauley-Stein. This young big man has begun to put it together of late going for over 30 in 2 of his last 5 games and going over 22 in all 5 of them. The Kings play the Pelicans tonight with this being the highest projected scoring game according to Vegas tonight and Anthony Davis is a GTD so look for the big guys of Sacramento to have solid games tonight.

The average winning score over the past 7 days has been 327.4 total points. This is the highest that we have seen since we started tracking this number at the end of last season. So tonight it is all about contest selection in terms of making solid plays tonight. Thursday is FanDuel Night as such there are several TNT contests and the $2 TNT Slam is our favorite but it will have an average score that is slightly higher than the rest. Tonight you should be looking at the $25 TNT 250k Slam with that having a slightly lower average winning score at 312.1 this season.

draftkings

  • Point Guard – 48.6/player (2.9 PG’s per winning lineup)
  • Shooting Guard – 34.8/player (2.01 SG’s per winning lineup)
  • Small Forward – 26.4/player (1.4 SF’s per winning lineup)
  • Power Forward – 44.4/player (1.01 PF’s per winning lineup)
  • Center – 33.8/player (1.31 C’s per winning lineup)

The order for player selection for tonight you should be looking at filling your SG position and PG position with top end players. Cousins is in play tonight so he is always a strong consideration but if Anthony Davis isn’t going to play then taking Ryan Anderson at PF is a very good play on DraftKings.

Point 3 – Big Play Potential:

BigPlayPotentialWe have officially released the full version of the Big Play Potential and this should be a highly used set of information specifically for DraftKings as this will be a big indication for having players hit those all important bonuses.

  • The top Triple-Double guy for tonight is Rajon Rondo with a 13% chance. It should be noted that Marc Gasol is the only other player with a Triple-Double this season for those that are playing tonight
  • The top Double-Double is Cousins at just over 57% with Wall and Pau Gasol just behind at 55%
  • The top 3 point player for tonight is Paul George at just over 2.8 threes per game so far this season.

Be sure to check out the detail of this report as you will get to see how players are trending in their last 5 and last 10 games relative to these categories.

Point 4 – Last 5 Game Tops:

Over each player’s last 5 games for players that are eligible tonight for contests here is your breakdown for players based on their last 5 games played in order:

top5

Point 5 – Absolutes:

  • The top overall #AbsoluteMustHave is DeMarcus Cousins for tonight and really why wouldn’t he be. He has played lights out, the exception was the second game of a back to back earlier this week where he only managed 24 fantasy points. Aside from that he has been over 60 fantasy points and is still averaging over 60 in his last 5 games.
  • The top overall #AbsoluteNotable is Jrue Holiday. He has been playing around 35 minutes per game and with Evans hurt and Anthony Davis listed as a Game-Time Decision, Holiday is in line to get a bunch of shots and run the show again tonight against the Kings, whom give up a ton of points to the PG position.
  • The top overall #AbsoluteSleeper is Willie Cauley-Stein on DraftKings and Robin Lopez for FanDuel. Both players have been playing well of late but Stein has really been producing for the Kings as he looks to continue his streak of over 20 fantasy points again tonight. The advantage that Lopez has is that Carmelo isn’t going to play again tonight so that means that he will get a few more opportunities on the offensive side of the ball and he should be able to handle the glass again tonight.

DraftKings Lineup Consideration

DK_LineupAnalyzerFor DraftKings tonight, we are going to roll with our #AbsoluteMustHave of Cousins and we should expect at least 50 points out of him again tonight. Then we are going to roll with Holiday as our #AbsoluteNotable as we expect him to be the top performer at PG tonight. We will take a run at Lopez for Center and our top sleeper play of Gary Harris at guard. Then we will take a chalk play of Khris Middleton and take a risk with Shroeder and Jeff Green tonight. The last position is Derrick Williams and if you read earlier in the week, then you know that Williams is always huge whenever Melo sits out this season. In fact Williams should go for around 40 fantasy points with Melo out again tonight and this should get us around 270 fantasy points. Based on our projections, the needed score to win tonight is only going to be 258 in all of the main 50/50 contests so you should be able to hit some fairly large ROI for tonight with this lineup.

FanDuel Lineup Consideration
FD_LineupAnalyzerFor FanDuel, we have very consistent lineup with a projection of 266 and a last 5 game average of 278 fantasy points. With the needed points projected to be at 327 fantasy points tonight, the ceiling for this lineup at 464 fantasy points is one of the highest we have put together this season. Taking the players of Holiday and Rondo with DeRozan and Butler, this should create very high value and should produce over 200 fantasy points at the guard positions. Some key notes here is that Mirotic is out indefinitely and that means more scoring for Butler and in Toronto we have a game-time decision for Kyle Lowry, if he doesn’t go then DeRozan is a must play as he will have to do all of the scoring and that means he will put down over 50 fantasy points for sure. Casspi will get the nod again tonight with Gay out, Randle and Cauley-Stein very high value plays for tonight with Robin Lopez taking down the center position.

73 Seconds…

name of site - hunter thompson style

1.

Drop In The Bucket…

Did we forget about Klay?  As Draymond rises and Steph improves beyond icons, we seem to have forgotten about Klay.  Thompson dropped 45 on the Mavericks last night, getting payback for one of their losses, by 20pts – Is Carlyle now on Hot-Seat?  ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss expands on Kerr’s thoughts on Klay: “…he’s fine taking a back seat to Steph. It works well. They obviously play well together, but I think there always has to be a little bit of a pecking order in the NBA. Klay’s personality suits that second option perfectly.”  Thompson is a quiet all-star that fits perfectly with Golden State.

2.

Spurred On…

What did we think they were gonna do?  Quit?  Lose by 30 and announce the season was over?  So while Golden State came back down to earth and beat the Mavs by twenty, The Spurs treated Houston like a birthday party and blew them out by 31.  So you can say the Spurs bounced back and showed Houston how far away from contending they still are, plus 5 more things.  You think that at some point, while Aldridge is getting better and showing chemistry, he’ll have to be less passive.  If Aldridge can be more like young Dirk and drive to the basket, the way the Spurs play would make more noise in the playoffs.

3.

Started From the Bottom, Now We Here…

The 65th NBA All-Star Game will be the first All-Star Game held outside of the U.S. The game will be seen by fans in more than 200 countries and territories and will be heard in more than 40 languages. TNT will televise the All-Star Game in the U.S. for the 14th consecutive year, marking Turner Sports’ 31st year of NBA All-Star coverage.

…And all of that is nice.  The Game is even on Valentine’s Day, awwww.  So who will be coaching the Eastern Conference All-Stars?  The answer is a guy who just started, Tyronn Lue – because he deserves the honor.  So tune in to TNT at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 14 from Air Canada Centre in Toronto, and watch history in the making – just make sure you take the over.

HicksJasoHill

4.

Under-rated…

The winter that was — and, in some cases, still is — defined by the nine-figure notables (David Price, Zack Greinke, Jason Heyward, Chris Davis, Justin Upton and Jordan Zimmermann), some blockbuster swaps (Aroldis Chapman, Craig Kimbrel, Todd Frazier, Shelby Miller and Andrelton Simmons, to name a few), some international intrigue (Kenta Maeda and Byung Ho Park), the rewarded hand-wringing of the Mets faithful (welcome back, Yo), the limits-testing patience required of the likes of Dexter Fowler, Ian Desmond, Howie Kendrick, etc., and, as usual, the art of surprise.

Lost in all that discussion, though, are the people on the periphery. So let’s round up some of them here with the best acquisitions nobody’s talking about (until now)……

+ Keep Reading: The 10 best MLB pickups nobody is talking about.

5.

Might As Well Jump…

From Deadspin: The second period of the Predators’ 2-1 win over the Flames featured a strange moment, as Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman absolutely leveled linesman Don Henderson on his way back to the bench. The hit sure looks intentional, but Wideman had just been checked hard into the boards, and looked pretty woozy sitting on the bench.

Wideman wasn’t penalized, and both he and Henderson stayed in the game. Afterwards he told reporters that he apologized to Henderson on the ice, and that the hit was entirely accidental.

Thankfully Wideman recieved treatment for a concussion before returning to the ice, as per NHL protocol. Of course that protocol is to pop 2 Percocets and wash them down with a can of LaBatts, but still.

30 years ago today, that was all we saw of the Space Shuttle Challenger.  I remember exactly where I was and still I am reminded by the thoughts that went thru my head of disbelief.  Being at school, being told over the speaker system what happened, hoping the falling cabin contained life…still is hard to believe that 7 people lost their lives because of an O-ring.  18 years and 6 days later there was the second shuttle disaster, when Endeavour disintegrated in re-entry over Texas and Louisiana.  Now, no more shuttles…Prometheus stole fire to provide us a spark, to generate creativity and explore – what shall we do if we never venture out into the unknown?  Bless those that took the chance to peel back the curtain of the great beyond.

DiRTy Plays – Wednesday 5 Point Play

In recapping last night’s performance, Tuesday marked a night for OKC and NYK stack. We have longed talked about a strategy for taking the top 2 or 3 over/under matchups for the night and build stacks based on that infromation. This is a very good strategy and from our analysis will cash about 31.6 percent of the time. When Carmelo was officially listed as Out with only about 20 minutes left in making changes, that should have triggered you to take Derrick Williams. In fact in any game that Melo is out, take Williams as he is yet to score less than 30 fantasy points in the last 4 instances this has occurred. Archie Goodwin was a top fantasy performer and on FanDuel this was a solid max play that afforded you to take Durant, Westbrook and Wade! I will walk you through 5 key points and end with The DiRT Canon top lineup for both FanDuel and DraftKings, along with the lineup analysis for you to consider tonight!

Point 1 – Value Plays:

  • The top overall value play for tonight is Emmanuel Mudiay as we look at the raw numbers here, Mudiay has produced an average of just over 28 fantasy points over his last 5 and with Nelson expected to miss again tonight, Mudiay is getting the minutes to make him a top value play.
  • The second overall value play for tonight is Archie Goodwin. Specifically on FanDuel, Goodwin is still only $4,100 and he is going to play around 32 minutes until Brandon Knight comes back from his injury. This means you can take Goodwin, expect around 30 fantasy points and now you have the cap room to go and get the top 2 players for tonight.
  • The third overall value play for tonight is Nerlans Noel. While his salary is in our Notable range, his value for this salary is extremely profitable and one you must take advantage of tonight. With Okafor out for tonight, this means that Noel will play around 35 minutes and while he doesn’t score a ton, he is projected to get 2 blocks, over 10 rebounds and a couple of steals. So if he can just crack 10 points in the box score, he will get you between 35 and 45 fantasy points tonight.

Point 2 – Positional Breakdown:

Below is the average fantasy points per position for both FanDuel and DraftKings based on the minimum winning score for each site. This should give you an order to your lineup selection process.

FanDuel_

  • Point Guard – 35.4/player (70.8 total points)
  • Shooting Guard – 32.1/player (64.1 total points)
  • Small Forward – 30.9/player (61.8 total points)
  • Power Forward – 32.6/player (65.2 total points)
  • Center – 52.8/player (52.8 total points)

The average winning score over the past 7 days has been 314.7 total points. With Center leading that production but again Cousins has made this number significantly higher than it typically has been in the past. That said for Center’s tonight, you have value with Hawes or consistency with Jordan or Gobert for tonight. In order of selection for positional analysis you should go PG, PF, SG, SF, C for tonight.

draftkings

  • Point Guard – 44.6/player (2.6 PG’s per winning lineup)
  • Shooting Guard – 32.5/player (1.84 SG’s per winning lineup)
  • Small Forward – 33.1/player (1.92 SF’s per winning lineup)
  • Power Forward – 35.6/player (1.23 PF’s per winning lineup)
  • Center – 38.9/player (1.01 C’s per winning lineup)

The order for player selection for tongith should go PG, C, PF, SF, SG. The top plays for PG tonight on DraftKings are either Curry, Westbrook or Paul but based on our numbers it’s Curry for tonight as he leads everyone in fantasy points per game over their last 5 games at 61.25.

Point 3 – Big Play Potential:

  • The top 3 players in terms of projected 3pt’s made tonight are Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Robert Covington
  • The top 3 players in terms of projected double-doubles are Rudy Gobert, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green
  • The top 3 players in terms of projected triple-double are Draymond Green, Chris Paul & Emmanuel Mudiay

As you can see Steph Curry and Draymond Green should be considered for your chalk plays tonight!

Point 4 – Last 5 Game Tops:

Over each player’s last 5 games for players that are eligible tonight for contests here is your breakdown for players that have averaged over 50 points per game over their last 5. This tells you who is hot right now and those that you should consider for your Chalk plays:

  • Steph Curry – 61.25
  • James Harden – 59.15
  • Kemba Walker – 55.7
  • Kevin Durant – 55.5
  • Russell Westbrook – 52.9
  • Chris Paul – 52.45

Point 5 – Absolutes:

  • The top overall #AbsoluteMustHave is Steph Curry and the only concern here is will he play in the 4th quarter with Dirk sitting out, chances aren’t very likely thus the reason our reports say LeBron James!
  • The top overall #AbsoluteNotable is Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins is playing some great ball of late and has been over 30 fantasy points in each of his last 5 games. His salary remains in that $6,000 range and as long as he sits there, he is of value and should be considered each night.
  • The top overall #AbsoluteSleeper is Archie Goodwin for FanDuel and Dennis Schroeder for DraftKings. Goodwin scored 41 fantasy points last night and should get over 35 minutes again tonight. That is over 10 points per dollar spend on FanDuel tonight and he will most likely be owned by more than 25% of the field in main contests. On DraftKings, rolling with Schroeder is a solid play at PG tonight. He has another nice matchup and should get around 30 fantasy points yet again.

DraftKings Lineup Consideration

DK_LineupAnalyzerFor DraftKings tonight, we have several plays tonight that should make for a solid lineup. The first player we are taking, virtually across the board is Archie Goodwin. As long as he gets 30 minutes on the floor then he will get over 30 fantasy points in the game. He remains under $5,000 on DraftKings with a huge upside. Next we have Chandler Parson, who is going to get most of the shots tonight as Dirk will sit out against the Warriors tonight. Now we have Rudy Gobert and Gordon Hayward who have been playing like they finished the season last year in that they are both hovering around 40 points per game over their last 5 games and they have a solid matchup again tonight. Last we have to ride the Trevor Ariza hot streak even though Dwight Howard is expected to play tonight, Ariza has been hitting the three with the best of em’ of late and should continue with another 4 three’s tonight.

FanDuel Lineup Consideration

FD_LineupAnalyzerFor FanDuel, we have one of our highest projected and certainly highest last 5 game average lineups of all time tonight! That said, who do we have in this magic lineup you ask, well it starts with Goodwin at PG. He is only $4,100 again tonight and so you have to take him. We combine him with Westbrook & Durant who are averaging just under 110 fantasy points per game over their last 5 games together. Then you combine Wiggins and Towns who are also just around 80 fantasy points per game over their last 5 games. We continue with Marvin Williams and Tristan Thompson at PF where we go a bit on the cheap side but both players have high upside and should get around 30 fantasy points each. Last we finish with the hot hand of Ariza and add Devon Booker from Phoenix as another cheap play. So lot’s of combo plays on this lineup but strong, hot hands of late to see if we can knock out a 350+ tonight!

Countdown to Spring Training – #MLB #NBA #NFL

3…2…1…

These are the dog days of winter. Football season is (all but) over, the NHL and NBA are in the uneventful middle of their seasons, and Major League Baseball’s free-agent flurry has just about ended. But we’re still just under a month away from the unofficial start of baseball season.

So here’s a list of things to do until Spring Training begins — one every day, Jan. 27 through Feb. 23, the latest date any team’s pitchers and catchers report (looking at you, Rangers and White Sox).

Wednesday, Jan. 27: You’re reading this, aren’t you? Anything else is gravy.

Thursday, Jan. 28: No. 3 Iowa! No. 8 Maryland! 7 p.m. ET on ESPN! Could be a sneaky-good game in a wide-open college basketball landscape.

Friday, Jan. 29: MLBPipeline.com’s top 50 prospects will be unveiled on MLB Network at 9 p.m. ET. The new top-100 list will go live on MLB.com, too.

Saturday, Jan. 30: What’s the record for largest margin of victory in an NBA game? The Warriors are visiting the 76ers. It starts at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT on NBA League Pass, so you even get most or all of your night if this game isn’t as fun as it sounds. (You’ll have to stay up pretty late to catch the Australian Open men’s singles final live, which usually airs around 3 a.m. ET on ESPN or ESPN 2.)

Sunday, Jan. 31: Watch the Pro Bowl. Nah, read a book instead…...(Continue Reading: Counting down the final days till Spring Training.)

…Ummm Just One More Thing:

Some have called it a non-story. Others think there’s more to it.

Wherever you fall on the whole Peyton Manning HGH controversy, get ready for it to start creeping into your timeline again because the NFL says it will open its own investigation into allegations that the Broncos QB received the illegal drug at his house during his days with the Colts.

Whether you trust the NFL or not to run an unbiased and thorough investigation—in light of the one they ran regarding Tom Brady and Deflategate—is another story, but it looks like the league is going to sniff around the whole Manning controversy while he prepares for possibly his final game in Super Bowl 50 Feb. 7 against the Panthers.

According to the Indianapolis Star, league spokesman Brian McCarthy said the inquiry, “which began two weeks ago, involves reviews of records, interviews and coordination with other agencies.”…….(Continue Reading: Peyton Manning Under NFL Investigation Over Alleged HGH Shipments)

Shake It Off…

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is enjoying the best season of his career, as he’s led his team to a 17-1 record and an appearance in Super Bowl 50, in addition to being the odds-on favorite for the NFL MVP Award. Instead of celebrating Newton’s brilliance, a large chunk of fans and media pundits have grown to hate Newton because his joy is being misconstrued as cockiness. If you’re one of the haters, here are five reasons why you’re wrong……(Continue Reading: 5 Reasons Why Cam Newton Haters Are Wrong)

Tell The Truth…

This story originally appeared in the Jan. 25, 2016, issue of Sports Illustrated. Certain statistics and sections have been updated to reflect the most recent developments. Subscribe to the magazine here.

The few inarguable facts about Ben Simmons are that he was born in Melbourne, Australia, 19 years and six months ago; he is a 6′ 10″ freshman at Louisiana State who averages 19.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game; and he is the player most likely to be picked No. 1 in the 2016 NBA draft. After that, Simmons becomes more difficult to define. Is he a point-forward, a point-center, a giant floor general—or positionless? Is he lefthanded or (given all those righty finishes) ambidextrous? Should he be a primary ballhandler, to capitalize on his court vision and passing skills, or should he play in the paint, to exploit his advantage in athleticism over opposing big men? Is his game more Aussie-influenced or American-influenced, considering that he developed it in both countries and has one parent of each nationality? Can he responsibly be called the second coming of Magic or of King James? And can he be called the best player in the college game when his team is only 13–7?

It’s easier, at this stage, to define Ben Simmons by what he is not…….(Continue Reading: The truth about LSU star freshman Ben Simmons)

We’re Off To See The…

The Boston Celtics are the most confusing team in the NBA. Their best player stands just 5-foot-9. Their head coach had no NBA experience before taking the job in 2013. They don’t have a single player who would be a top-three guy on a championship contender. Yet here they are in the middle of the Eastern Conference’s second-tier teams: fighting for the right to lose to the Cavaliers in the Conference Finals, playing well above their individual talent level, and creating massive headaches for opponents in every game.

Brad Stevens has been on the job for two-and-a-half years and is already……(Continue Reading: Brad Stevens: The wizard of Boston)

Drops Mic…

When the subject involves the NBA, and the debate features Hubie Brown versus me, I lose. Take, for instance, my belief that you can pick anybody out of the Oakland telephone directory, and that person still would lead the Golden State Warriors to the NBA championship this season.

All you need to know is that Brown’s 82-year-old head nearly exploded this week from such heresy. He said coaching does matter in the league. In fact, the veteran head coach turned splendid television commentator on national NBA broadcasts went even further……(Continue Reading: Hubie Brown defends importance of NBA coaches.)

7.

He Said/He Said…

LeBron James is now a coach-killer. Or least, he really wants to be. Fingers are pointing at LeBron in the firing of David Blatt. And now a Miami Heat minority owner has claimed that LeBron wanted Erik Spoelstra fired throughout his tenure in Miami and that was why he ended up leaving for Cleveland. Raanan Katz, who played professionally in Israel, was a panelist on an Israeli sports talk radio show to talk about Blatt’s firing when he shared this story about LeBron leaving Miami……(Continue Reading: LeBron James May Have Been a Coach Killer His Entire Career and We Just Didn’t See It)

Last One Out Of The Circus…

Troy Aikman knows what it takes to be a quarterback in Dallas, so we’ll take his word for it when he says that either Johnny Manziel or Robert Griffin III will back up Tony Romo in 2016……(Continue Reading: Aikman: Manziel or RGIII will be Cowboys backup QB)

9.

No Place Like Home…

Perhaps the most memorable and most surreal scene of the 2015 college football season took place on thenight of Nov. 28 in LSU’s Tiger Stadium. With rumors flying about his job security, Les Miles led the Tigers to a win over Texas A&M, then was hoisted on his players’ shoulders and basked in the scene as the place known as Death Valley made it clear that it wanted nobody else to be its coach. Moments later, the wish was granted: Miles kept his job.

The LSU-Texas A&M game turned into a sort of pep rally for Miles, the most intimidating venue in college football proving to be the friendliest possible home for its coach. But it’s not just Death Valley that gives LSU one of the greatest home-field advantages in sports; it’s the entire state of Louisiana.

One week before National Signing Day, Tiger Stadium occupies the most valuable real estate in college football……(Continue Reading: Home-state advantage makes LSU a recruiting power.)

DiRTy Plays – Tuesday 5 Point Play

In recapping last night’s performance, if you followed our secret sauce, you would have been in the top 500 out of 180,000 entries on FanDuel and just as good within DraftKings. The key takeaways were our value playes of Hawes and Ariza, then Cousins & Rondo as our combo players. Then having T.Thompson, who put up a nice double-double last night with Towns on DraftKings and you have a pile of cash to play with tonight. Now that you have all the information at your fingertips, it’s time to build your lineups for today. I will walk you through 5 key points and end with The DiRT Canon top lineup for both FanDuel and DraftKings, along with the lineup analysis for you to consider tonight!

Point 1 – Value Plays:

  • The top overall value play for tonight is Jose Calderon. He has been averaging 20.2 over his last 5 and having had a couple of 30 point games over his last 10 with a strong matchup tonight.
  • The second value play for tonight is going to be Wesley Matthews. An unsung player who hits a ton of three’s, making him very viable on DraftKings, look for Matthews to continue his hot streak with another 30 fantasy points tonight.
  • The third value play for tonight is Tyson Chandler. We were going to have Chandler Parsons here as he does have considerable value but when looking for a cheap play tonight, Tyson Chandler should be an automatic double-double tonight and should put up at least 30 fantasy points again tonight.

Point 2 – Positional Breakdown:

Below is the average fantasy points per position for both FanDuel and DraftKings based on the minimum winning score for each site. This should give you an order to your lineup selection process.

FanDuel_

  • Point Guard – 35.9/player (71.8 total points)
  • Shooting Guard – 33.35/player (66.7 total points)
  • Small Forward – 27.05/player (54.1 total points)
  • Power Forward – 32.1/player (64.2 total points)
  • Center – 58.1/player (58.1 total points)

The average winning score over the past 7 days has been 314.9 total points. With Center leading that production, keep in mind that Cousins is listed as a Center on FanDuel and he had another massive performance yesterday making this position when considering who is available for tonight really mean you can only take Cousins here. Shooting guard did have a slight come back with Harden putting up solid numbers yesterday but in order for tonight after Cousins, you should go PG, PF, SG, SF. At SF if you are taking Durant or Melo as your chalk play, then you will need to be sure to get two solid mid play guys at PG tonight such as Carter-Williams and Jordan Clarkson.

draftkings

  • Point Guard – 41.9/player (2.3 PG’s per winning lineup)
  • Shooting Guard – 39.2/player (2.04 SG’s per winning lineup)
  • Small Forward – 27.4/player (1.28 SF’s per winning lineup)
  • Power Forward – 44.9/player (1.46 PF’s per winning lineup)
  • Center – 30.1/player (1.01 C’s per winning lineup)

As you should already know, the bonus plays for 3pt makes along with double-doubles and triple-doubles, the wing players should be more predominately selected in your DraftKings lineup process. Identifying players that have the best chance for hitting these thresholds, should be in your consideration moving forward. It should be noted that it is almost non-existent to have two C’s on your winning lineup.

Point 3 – Big Play Potential:

  • The top 3 players in terms of projected 3pt’s made tonight are Paul George, JJ Reddick & Kevin Durant
  • The top 3 players in terms of projected double-doubles are DeMarcus Cousins, Tyson Chandler & Chris Paul
  • The top 3 players in terms of projected triple-double are Chris Paul (31.6% chance), DeMarcus Cousins & Rajon Rondo

As you can see Chris Paul & DeMarcus Cousins should be considered for your chalk plays tonight!

Point 4 – What Contest should I play:

  • The top contest to play on DraftKings tonight is the $5 NBA 50k zone as that contest has shown an average winning score of only 279.6 over the last 2 weeks. You should also double down with the $5 Massive Double Up and the $3 Sharpshooter contest.
  • The top contest to play on FanDuel tonight is the $20K Tue NBA Block (Single Entry) as this contest has had the lowest average winning score on Tuesday night’s this season at only 291.8 fantasy points needed to win this contest.

In this section, we will identify the contest that has the lowest score to win combined with opportunity for you to make the big bucks each day. We will also hedge this contest with another option if the contest is a main contest.

Point 5 – Absolutes:

  • The top overall #AbsoluteMustHave is DeMarcus Cousins. I mean look, all this guy has done is average over 62 fantasy points in his last 5 games. Chalk play!
  • The top overall #AbsoluteNotable for DraftKings is Michael Carter-Williams for tonight. He didn’t have much in his last game against Orlando but Orlando has been giving up a ton of points of late and Williams has been solidly around 30 fantasy points per game over his last 5 games.
  • The top overall #AbsoluteSleeper for is Tyson Chandler. He has averaged 30.12 fantasy points per game over his last 5 games including one game in which he put up 60.75.

DraftKings Lineup Consideration

DK_lineupanalyzer

As you can see we are going with Cousins again tonight alongside our triple-double threat of Chris Paul. We are surrounding these guys with a ton of high value and upside with Goodwin, Calderon and Tyson Chandler. Then we are adding Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons as they have a solid matchup against the Lakers tonight. This lineup should reach our 280 threshold with ease tonight and with a ceiling at 447, this is very high upside potential. The only play in this lineup that is “iffy” tonight is TJ Warren. He has been a roller coaster this season but with the 76ers on the docket that usually bodes well for offensive production and so he will get his shot at playing time tonight. If the game gets out of hand, look for Warren to shoot it a ton as our gut call has him putting up 25 fantasy points tonight.

FanDuel Lineup Consideration
FD_LineupAnalyzerWith Cousins at Center tonight, we wanted to go with a solid back court of Clarkson and MCW. Khris Middleton has been highly productive of late and is averaging over 36 fantasy points per game over his last 5 contests. This means score and score often for Middleton. Omri Casspy will be highly owned tonight with Rudy Gay missing action tonight and Casspy expected to regain his starting role. In games where Gay hasn’t played Casspy has only gone under 30 fantasy points in 1 of 8 of those games so he should be a solid play at SF tonight. Ibaka is the most sure thing guarantee we can give you at PF tonight and we are going to combine him with Nerlans Noel but Chris Bosh and Porzingis are also strong secondary plays for the PF position tonight.
